Salt Lake Winter Olympics 2002
The success of the solution provided to SOCOG led on to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Originally, we were commissioned to provide asset tracking for all Furniture, Fuxtures and equipment
going into the Village, however once the system was up and running the scope of what could be achieved was soon realized and the job at hand grew dramtically. By the end of the games we had provided services to the follwing areas;
Logistics Department: Reports and space plans of where each individual item was to be placed. Material Planning & Procurement Department: Asset quantities to order Telecommunications Department: Asset location reports and drawings
including Telephone handsets, printers faxes and telephone lines configurations. Including detailed asset information eg individual telephone, fax modem numbers and associated dialing access (international, national, domestic) Technology
Department: Asset location reports and drawings for a ll computers and associated hardware Village Allotment: Assignment and tracking of spaces allocated to all countries and Organising Committee Departments.
Ratecard: Tracking of hired equipment by country The Village Venue itself was also unique. It was an existing Venue (part of the University of Utah) with university owned assets already existing in spaces, which were to be used for
Olympics. We were required as part of the contract to the University to return all University owned assets back to their original location after the Olympics. This Site under went several transformations. Starting out as the University Campus
it was transformed into an Olympic Village, 60 hours after the Olympic Closing Ceremony everything had to be reset for the needs and use as a Paralympic Village. Finally, closing of the Paralympic Village all spaces had to be reset again back
to the original University Layout two (2) weeks later. Below is a summary of the space and assets tracked, moved and captured:
